Dr Hussnain A. Janjua

Chairman Advisory Board

Professor Dr Hussnain A. Janjua is currently the principal of ATTA-UR-RAHMAN SCHOOL OF APPLIED BIOSCIENCES, NUST. He has done PhD Molecular Biology from Imperial College London, UK. He is Post Doctoral Research Fellow (CIBIO, UNTIN, Italy).

He was awarded Post Doctoral Research Fellowship on NRF project at IMBM, UWC Cape Town South Africa. He was awarded Funding by Provincial Autonoma Di Trento, Italy for Post Doctoral Research at CIBIO, UNITN, Trento, Italy. He was awarded Overseas Research Scholarship for PhD Research at Imperial College London. In addition he is also been awarded travel Grant to attend conference in Malaysia 5th-9th February 2018 “Promoting Safe and Secure science in Middle East/North Africa and South/ South East Asia.

Dr Shagufta Hussain

Prof Dr Shagufta Hussain is member Board of Governor, Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS) Islamabad in addition to Consultant for Infection prevention and control (IPC) at World Health Organization (WHO) Representative office in Pakistan.


Dr Shagufta retired as Head of Microbiology department, providing the diagnostic laboratory facilities for the patients of a tertiary care hospital. 
She has more than 25 publications published in national and international medical journals.

Dr Sadia Atif Ahmad

(Regulatory and Accreditation Affairs)

Dr Sadia Atif Ahmad is Consultant Histopathologist and Quality Manager of Health Ways Laboratories. She is an auditor for ISO15189 and ISO9001 standards with 29 technical audits of leading healthcare setups in Pakistan to her credit. She has internationally published work on standardisation of laboratories in Pakistan. She was member of technical committee for revision of Diagnostic Imaging Standard (CAN/HSO42002:2019) of Health Standard Organisation, Canada.

 
She worked as a Research Fellow in Etiology and Pathogenesis of Lymphoid Neoplasia- collaborative project between AFIP and NIH (USA). She has done post graduate training at Armed Forces Institute of Pathology, Rawalpindi. She is member of Pakistan Association of Pathologists. She holds academic honours and a fellowship degree from College of Physicians and Surgeons, Pakistan.

Brig Dr Muhammad Rafi Butt (R)

(Chemical Pathology)

Brig Dr Muhammad Rafi Butt (R) is currently working as HOD Pathology and Consultant chemical pathologist at Bahria International Hospital Rawalpindi. He previously worked as Consultant Pathologist and Medical Director at Isolation Hospital and Infections Treatment Center Islamabad (IHITC) and launched Diagnostic Lab/Collection points of MedAsk Pvt Ltd (a project of Army Welfare Trust).

He started his carrier as medical officer and worked his way up to Consultant Chemical Pathologist. He worked as Head dept of Pathology of various services hospitals, providing tertiary care diagnostic laboratory facilities to patients. During his service he was an active member of NEQAPP (a project of AFIP Rawalpindi). He has worked with CPSP Karachi as Examiner and paper setter for fellowship exams and as reviewer of manuscripts for various journals

Dr. Salik Javed Kakar

(Molecular Diagnostics)

Dr. Salik Javed Kakar is currently working as an Associate Professor in the Department of Healthcare Biotechnology at the National University of Sciences and Technology (NUST). Being a medical doctor and later on completing his MSc and PhD from the University of Leicester and the University of Manchester, UK respectively, he offers a unique combination of expertise in the fields of clinical and biological sciences. He also earned two post-doctoral fellowships in the United Kingdom from the British Heart Foundation, and Heart Research UK.

Based on his experience, he has been made in-charge of the Atta-ur-Rahman School of Applied Biosciences Diagnostics Laboratory at NUST. The lab offers various molecular diagnostic tests to general public.

Along with diagnostic lab, he has been actively involved in biomedical research. His own research group is focussing their efforts on the development of viral and non-viral gene therapy approaches against different diseases including heart diseases and different forms of cancer. Furthermore, he is working on developing diagnostic kits for various diseases. His research group currently comprises of MS students and doctoral candidates.

Prof (Brig) Aamir Ijaz Retd

(Clinical Chemistry)

Prof (Brig) Aamir Ijaz Retd, after graduation from Allama Iqbal Medical College, Lahore (1983), passed FCPS in Chemical Pathology (1995) form AFIP Rawalpindi. He was trained in Paediatric Metabolic Disorders at Great Ormond Street Hospital London. He has also attended courses on Biorisk Management at Sandia Laboratories, Albuquerque, USA and Patient Safety at Maryland, USA. He has served at UN Hospital in Croatia. He is a qualified medical educationist and done his MCPS-HPE from CPSP. He has over 130 publications, authorship of 6 books and book chapters and nearly 70 scientific presentations to his credit. He was editor of the Pakistan Journal of Pathology for three years He was awarded FRCP by Royal College of Physicians of Edinburg UK in 2011. Besides he is serving at following positions at PSCP
